New Delhi. The Income Tax Department has launched the online income tax return (ITR) filing facility for ITR-2 forms for the assessment year 2025-26, helping millions of taxpayers with complex income structures file their returns more easily.
The Income Tax Department stated that the ITR-2 form is now available for online filing on the e-filing portal with pre-filled data.
With this release, all taxpayers, including salaried individuals with taxable capital gains, crypto income, etc., can now start filing their income tax returns online through the e-filing ITR portal. The form is available at https://incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.
The department had already extended the deadline for filing ITR for the financial year 2024-25 (assessment year 2025-26) to September 15, 2025. Earlier, only ITR-1 and ITR-4 (both online and Excel utility) were released.
This had helped only a limited number of taxpayers file their returns. However, for ITR-3 forms, only the Excel utility is currently enabled; the online utility is not yet available.
