Each participating team will receive 250,000 dollars (approximately 22 lakh rupees).
The ICC said that the aim of this move is to increase the popularity of women’s cricket worldwide and bring it on par with men’s cricket.
It was stated that this is a step taken towards prioritizing women’s cricket.
“This announcement will prove to be a milestone in the journey of women’s cricket. This four-fold increase in prize money is a historic moment for women’s cricket and reflects our clear commitment to its long-term development. Our message is simple: women cricketers should know that if they choose this sport professionally, they will be treated equally to men.”
