The Honorable Prime Minister also launched the Kadi Station to Katosan Road-Sabarmati MEMU train and the first dedicated automobile freight train for North India via the Becharaji Station and Ranuj route.

The Honorable Prime Minister dedicated a series of railway projects worth over ₹1,400 crore to the nation during his visit to Gujarat. These include the doubling of the Mehsana-Palanpur railway line, the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road railway line, and the Becharaji-Ranuj railway line, as well as a new passenger train between Katosan Road and Sabarmati, and the flagging off of the first dedicated automobile freight train for North India from Becharaji Station via the Ranuj route. The main event was held in Ahmedabad. These projects will particularly benefit the Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad districts of North Gujarat. It is expected that these projects will enhance regional connectivity, accelerate industrial development, improve logistics efficiency, and create new employment opportunities.

The 65 km long Mehsana-Palanpur railway line doubling was completed at a cost of ₹537 crore, while the 37 km long Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road railway line was converted to broad gauge at a cost of ₹347 crore. Similarly, the 40 km long Becharaji-Ranuj railway line was also converted to broad gauge at a cost of ₹520 crore. With the completion of these projects, simpler, safer, and more seamless connectivity has been ensured, especially for the Mehsana, Banaskantha, and Patan districts. They have made travel much easier for daily commuters, tourists, and businesses, while also accelerating regional economic integration.

The doubling of the railway line has increased line capacity, making it possible to run high-speed trains on the Ahmedabad-Delhi corridor. The project’s completion has reduced traffic congestion and unnecessary stops for passenger trains at crossings, ensuring train punctuality. This development has led to the start of more passenger services and improved freight efficiency, giving new momentum to economic activities in Gujarat.

The 37 km long Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road railway line was converted to broad gauge at a cost of ₹347 crore. This project has significantly increased connectivity for passengers and freight in the region. This gauge conversion ensures seamless integration with the national broad gauge rail network, enabling faster and more efficient movement of goods and people. This project is particularly beneficial for local commuters, small businesses, and industries around Kadi and Kalol, which are important industrial and agricultural centers of Gujarat. It also reduces travel time, improves access to Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, and accelerates economic activities in the surrounding regions.

The gauge conversion of the Becharaji-Ranuj railway line has been carried out in line with the National Logistics Policy and the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity. This initiative reduces logistics costs and further strengthens Gujarat’s position in the National Logistics Performance Index, accelerating the socio-economic progress of North Gujarat and setting a benchmark in India’s logistics and railway sectors.

On this occasion, the Honorable Prime Minister also flagged off the inaugural service of the Kadi Railway Station to Katosan Road-Sabarmati MEMU train and the first dedicated automobile freight train for North India via the Becharaji Station and Ranuj route. This new passenger service provides better access to religious sites, benefits daily commuters in the region, and accelerates economic activities at the grassroots level. This freight service will enhance connectivity with the state’s industrial centers, strengthen the logistics network, and create employment opportunities.
