The ‘Shourya ka Sindoor’ folk fair in Rajkot began with great enthusiasm on Thursday, continuing a years-old tradition. Held during the Janmashtami holidays, this five-day event has become a major attraction for locals and visitors from nearby areas.

Spread across nearly 70,000 square meters at the Racecourse Ground, the fair features over 200 stalls selling toys, food, ice cream, and handicrafts. Families and children can enjoy around 50 rides, including the popular Chakdol. Wide pathways and open spaces have been arranged to manage crowds efficiently.

Security measures include 1,266 police personnel, including 3 DCPs, 10 ACPs, 28 PIs, 81 PSIs, and 77 SRP members. Quick response teams (including NDRF, SDRF, health, police, and fire personnel) will be stationed at five watchtowers. AI-powered drones will monitor the fair continuously, and an ₹8 crore liability insurance has been secured.

Daily entertainment from 3:45 PM onward includes 10 cultural performances featuring renowned artists such as Ahmedabad’s ‘Aghori Group,’ Alpaben Patel, Ruju Jadhav Group, Rajdan Garhvi, and Kutch’s Anirudh Ahir.

District Collector Dr. Om Prakash inspected the venue, reviewed preparations, and provided guidelines to the fair’s implementation committee to ensure a seamless experience for visitors.
