In Gujarat, politics has heated up after around 700 seats were declared uncontested ahead of the local self-government elections. The state president of the Aam Aadmi Party launched a sharp attack on the BJP over this matter, stating that celebrating after murdering democracy is a shameful act. He alleged that nomination forms were withdrawn through inducement, threats, and abduction, which is dangerous for democracy.
Ahmedabad / Gujarat: The state president of the Aam Aadmi Party stated via a video that it is truly a shameful matter for our Gujarat and Gujaratis when celebrations are held over such sad events today. Gujarat is a state known for its business acumen, peace-loving nature, and culture, which is due to its citizens. But today, some politicians intoxicated with power have forgotten statecraft, forgotten public policy, and forgetting all principles, have created a situation as if there is a race to get candidates declared uncontested. All this is like a mock celebration on the murder of democracy. A celebration is being held over the BJP getting 700 people declared uncontested, and it is being termed a historic event, which is truly shameful. It means you were not worthy to contest the election. People have been deprived of their voting rights and that is being celebrated. Numerous audio-videos have surfaced showing attempts to get nominations withdrawn through greed, temptation, inducement, abduction, crime, and police threats in various places, which is a red alert for democracy.
He further stated that a similar situation was created in Bangladesh where a government was formed by suppressing the opposition, but ultimately the people gave their answer. Gujarat is a peace-loving state, but today there is anger among the people, and many are calling to express concern over this issue. The BJP has misused power, police, and politics and created a situation that feels reminiscent of the times of Ravana and Kansa. The Election Commission has become a mute spectator, whose duty is to conduct impartial elections, but that does not seem to be the case in the current situation. In many places, the police and the system appear to be playing the role of BJP workers, which is a serious concern for Gujarat and democracy. Today, democracy is being murdered and that is being celebrated, but the people of Gujarat know everything and will give a fitting answer by casting their vote in the upcoming elections, he expressed full confidence.
