Kolkata News: A special court in Kolkata on Tuesday sentenced a man to death for raping and attempting to kill a seven-month-old child in North Kolkata. The court had found the man guilty of kidnapping, raping, and attempting to murder the child within 75 days of his arrest in the city’s Burrabazar area.
After hearing the final arguments from the defense and the prosecution, the court announced the sentence, arguing that the crime falls into the category of ‘rarest of the rare’. This is the seventh time in the past six months that a death sentence has been pronounced in the courts of West Bengal.
