The « 16th Minato Mirai Grand Bon Odori » will be held on August 29th and 30th at Rinko Park (Minato Mirai 1, Nishi-ku, Yokohama).
This event, held since 2008, aims to create a place for community interaction and exchange. A festival yagura (tower) will be set up in the park overlooking Yokohama Port, where Bon Odori dances, including the Yokohama Ondo, will be performed.
Starting this time, a special food court will be set up in the Plaza Square of Pacifico Yokohama, adjacent to the park. In addition to food and drink areas provided by kitchen cars, a rest area will also be set up.
On the yagura stage, dance performances and taiko drum performances are traditionally showcased. The « Sports Park, » which featured Yokohama’s professional sports teams and was held until last year, will not take place this time.
With the goal of « aiming for a more sustainable Bon Odori, » waste separation will be carried out at eco-stations (trash disposal areas) set up throughout the venue, aiming for 100% recycling of waste. To reduce plastic, the uchiwa fans distributed at the venue have been changed from plastic to bamboo. Kitchen car vendors are also being encouraged to use paper containers instead of plastic ones.
The event will run from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Admission is free. The event will be held in light rain. In case of severe weather, the schedule may be changed or the event may be canceled.

The « 10th Kannai・Kitanaka Canal Park Bon Odori » will be held on August 23rd at Kitanaka-dori Kita Second Park (Kaigandori 5, Naka-ku, Yokohama) in the Kitanaka Canal Park, adjacent to the Minato Mirai area.
Using the Landmark Tower as a symbolic yagura, Bon Odori dances will be performed to songs including the « Grand Yokohama Ondo, » « Yokohama Arameya Ondo, » « Naka-ku Minato Ondo, » as well as « Tanko Bushi » and « Mori no Kuma-san. »
Practice sessions for the Bon Odori dances have been held with instruction from performers, and workshops for children to make paper lanterns have also been conducted.
On the day, in addition to performances by the Miyake Taiko drum group and samba dancing, members of « Dance Base Yokohama (DaBY), » based in Kitanaka, and the performance group « Happa All Stars, » formed at the Seya Support School Yamato East Branch, will also showcase dances.
As a 10th-anniversary project, the « Kitanaka Craft Beer Festival » will be held simultaneously, featuring participation from three breweries located around the Kitanaka area. Beer from Satobushi Bashamichi, THE BLISS BREWERY & DINING, and REVO BREWING will be available.
Vendors will include the meat bar « ANCHOR GROUND, » the Italian restaurant « Osteria Austro, » and the french fry shop « SOSYURAN » providing food and drink, while the Yokohama Mobility Service Council’s « IKIiKI Company » will sell workshop products. In the festival area, yakisoba and other foods will be sold, and goldfish scooping, watermelon splitting, and fireworks will also take place.
The event will run from 3:00 PM to 9:15 PM. Participation is free.
