Addis Ababa – The Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform revealed that GITEX Africa, the largest and most influential event in the technology and startup sector, has demonstrated the growing prominence of the digital economy on the continent.

GITEX Africa Morocco, the premier technology and startup exhibition, has officially opened its doors to prominent figures from the local, regional, and global digital landscape.

GITEX Africa is held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, represented by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform of the Kingdom, in partnership with the Digital Development Agency (ADD), and organized by KAOUN International, the overseas events organiser of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the global organizer of GITEX events.

During the opening ceremony, prominent figures exchanged valuable insights. The Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform confirmed that GITEX Africa highlights the increasing importance of the digital economy, which now represents 15% of global GDP, equivalent to 6.5 trillion US dollars.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the digital revolution, the Minister affirmed Morocco’s steadfast commitment to leading a future where digitization and artificial intelligence serve as catalysts for progress, benefiting society as a whole.

For his part, the Director General of the Digital Development Agency highlighted the event’s transformation into one of the most prominent digital and technological gatherings in Africa and on the international stage.

He also noted that GITEX Africa is no longer just a platform for showcasing innovations, but a strategic arena for promoting digital inclusion across African nations, establishing partnerships with global stakeholders, and accelerating sustainable digital transformation. With AI leading global innovation, the CEO of KAOUN International confirmed that Morocco is positioning itself as a transformative hub across the continent.

She added that GITEX Africa Morocco is not just a platform for cutting-edge technology, but a dynamic catalyst for cooperation, investment, and growth, connecting Africa’s brightest innovators with global markets and empowering the next generation to lead the AI-driven economy.

The 2025 edition of GITEX Africa Morocco is set to foster pioneering partnerships, explore untapped industries, and amplify its impact on Africa’s digital ecosystem.

This year’s event features a broader agenda, including new participants from diverse countries across Africa, Europe, and Asia, such as Belgium, Gabon, Niger, Switzerland, Uzbekistan, and Zambia.
