The Federal Institute of Technical and Vocational Education and Training has announced the launch of specialized and modern training programs aimed at preparing a highly skilled workforce capable of leading the “Digital Ethiopia 2030” strategy.
These initiatives seek to build human competencies capable of steering the course of the national digital strategy, recently launched by the Prime Minister, which aims to establish a reliable, fair, and accessible digital system throughout the country.
According to the Institute’s Director General, this new vision is based on the successes of the “Digital Ethiopia 2025” strategy, which laid a strong foundation for transformation within the technical and vocational education sectors. He explained that the previous strategy enabled the Institute to update teaching curricula and significantly improve digital literacy nationwide.
The Director General confirmed that the Institute is finalizing strategic documents to align its operations with the specific objectives of the 2030 vision. This transition includes updating curricula to prioritize training in advanced disciplines such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
By equipping graduates with these high-level digital competencies, the Institute aims to prepare a workforce capable of thriving in the modern global economy. These efforts also support commitments to developing infrastructure, strengthening institutional frameworks, and acquiring the latest technological resources to provide a learning environment with global standards.
He concluded by stating that the ultimate goal of these efforts is to nurture a generation of professionals who not only possess digital skills but also have the ability to develop locally-made digital technologies.
