The Minister of State for Military Production conducted a surprise inspection tour of the Armored Vehicle Production and Repair Factory (Military Factory 200) to follow up on the progress of the manufacturing process and the latest developments in the production of the 155mm/52 caliber howitzer system (K9A1EGY), which is one of the most advanced and effective artillery systems in the world.
Military Production: Completion of the First Phase of Manufacturing the K9A1EGY Howitzer System
The Minister of State for Military Production began his tour inside Military Factory 200 by visiting the production line of the K9A1EGY howitzer system. He also inspected the factory’s test track, where the executive status of contracts was reviewed, and the completion of the first phase of manufacturing the howitzer system and the start of implementing the second phase, which increases the local component, were discussed. The Minister reviewed the final touches for delivering the first battalion of K9A1EGY systems to the Armed Forces formations.
A number of directives were issued regarding preparing a reward system for workers and organizing internal competitions for the personnel of the Military Production sector to encourage excellence and innovation, in addition to utilizing surplus production capacity and unused lines and spaces. The Minister also directed the periodic follow-up on project and contract implementation rates.
Subsequently, the Minister headed to the Abu Zaabal Engineering Industries Company (Military Factory 100). He inspected the workshops producing the K9A1EGY howitzer and reviewed the results of implementing the ministerial directives issued during his last visit to the company the previous month.
The Minister of State for Military Production checked on the technical condition of the equipment, following the trial operation of a number of machines on the company’s production lines, whether new machines or repaired old ones, as part of the keenness to maximize the utilization of the company’s available resources. Directives were given to hold specialized training courses for workers in various manufacturing fields to ensure performance improvement.
