“Chuxi, wake up, it’s your turn to answer!”

“Liu Chuxi, if you can hear me, open your eyes!”

“Chuxi, come back soon, we’re waiting to play soccer with you.”

In November 2025, 8-year-old Liu Chuxi from Yueyang, Hunan, was tragically injured in a traffic accident and fell into a coma. After 55 days, following repeated calls from his classmates in recorded videos, he miraculously woke up.

Eight-year-old Liu Chuxi was a student at Yueyang Jin’e Primary School. On November 22, 2025, a sudden traffic accident left him unconscious. Hospital diagnosis showed severe traumatic brain injury, brainstem contusion and laceration, diffuse axonal injury… The situation was not optimistic. Faced with a medical diagnosis of a “slim chance of regaining consciousness,” his mother did not give up. “No mother would give up on her child,” she said. A few days later, on the doctor’s advice, she transferred her child to Xiangya Hospital of Central South University. During this time, she constantly searched for information and related cases, hoping to find a way to stimulate his awakening. Doctors advised that playing music and sounds familiar or beloved to the patient could activate specific areas of the brain and might become a breakthrough in awakening his consciousness. So, Liu Chuxi’s mother decided to try “auditory stimulation therapy.” She collected the school’s wake-up music and broadcast exercise music for him to listen to.

After Liu Chuxi’s accident, his homeroom teacher was deeply concerned. Upon learning that playing familiar sounds could aid his recovery, the teacher organized classmates to record classroom clips and messages of祝福. The classmates called out Liu Chuxi’s name, hoping he would get better quickly and return to class with everyone soon.

Liu Chuxi’s mother played these sounds for him over and over again. Later, classmates sent new recordings and videos. Some shared funny stories from break time, others sang his favorite songs. At first, Liu Chuxi showed little reaction. On the 45th day of his coma, he seemed to respond to his friends’ voices, briefly opening his eyes. On the 51st day, following a suggestion from an online user, his mother played a recording of the teacher’s lesson for him. While listening, the昏迷中的 Liu Chuxi actually smiled with his eyes closed. His family and teacher found it incredible. On the 55th day, he miraculously regained consciousness. “Liu Chuxi has regained consciousness!” The teacher immediately shared the good news with the classmates, who were overjoyed. After class, the teacher led the students to visit him in the hospital. Due to an eye injury, young Chuxi couldn’t open his eyes completely, but he tried hard to respond with hand movements. The teacher jokingly said he could be exempt from homework, and little Chuxi happily tried to widen his eyes and waved in response.

In addition to recording videos, the classmates also亲手制作了祝福贺卡, wishing Chuxi a speedy recovery.

Liu Chuxi’s mother激动地说, the strong-willed Chuxi really pulled through. She described it as “finally seeing the sun behind the dark clouds,” and expressed gratitude to the medical staff, as well as the help and encouragement from the teacher and classmates. Currently, Chuxi’s condition is improving day by day. Although the road to康复 is long, Liu Chuxi’s mother believes that in such a loving environment, he will surely recover his health and return to school soon.
