Customs statistics show that in the first eight months of this year, the Yangtze River Delta region’s total import and export value reached 11.07 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%, accounting for 37.4% of the country’s total import and export value and contributing 58% to the national import and export growth.
During this period, exports of industrial robots and high-end machine tools from the region increased by 60.8% and 26.8% year-on-year respectively, while imports of computer components and aircraft parts grew by 35.6% and 46% respectively.
The region’s continuous improvement in innovation capability and development level in recent years has provided strong momentum for high-quality foreign trade growth. In the first eight months, the Yangtze River Delta region’s import and export growth rate was 2 percentage points higher than the national average, with its share of the country’s total import and export value increasing by 0.7 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
