China’s Federation of Logistics and Purchasing announced on the 11th that the logistics prosperity index for September was 51.2%, an increase of 0.3 percentage points from the previous month, reaching the highest level since April.

Looking at data from the past three consecutive months, indicators related to logistics demand have remained in the expansion range. The logistics prosperity index has accumulated a recovery of 0.4 percentage points, while the total business volume index and new orders index have accumulated recoveries of 0.4 and 0.9 percentage points respectively.

The total logistics business volume index in eastern and western regions increased by 0.4 and 0.2 percentage points respectively. Following the end of summer heat, the back-to-school season and tourism season have driven rapid recovery in consumer logistics. Online shopping and consumer spending have been particularly strong, with cold chain fresh food, home appliances and electronics, outdoor travel equipment, cosmetics, and clothing maintaining high popularity in online shopping categories. The postal express delivery sector’s total business volume index reached 70.1% in September, significantly higher than the overall industry level.

In terms of industrial logistics demand, sectors including energy transportation, electronic components, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, communication equipment, and durable consumer goods such as home furnishings and appliances showed positive trends, driving growth in railway, road, water, and air logistics business volumes.

Data shows that the logistics service price index, employment index, and main business profit index have continued to rise. The logistics service price index accumulated a recovery of 0.9 percentage points in the third quarter, with road transportation and water transportation service price indices maintaining their upward trend in September, effectively improving the previously sluggish conditions to some extent.

The employment index accumulated a recovery of 2.1 percentage points in the third quarter, including a 1.4 percentage point increase in September. By sector, water transportation, air transportation, and multimodal transport showed increased demand for personnel positions.
