The 2025 International Jump Rope Masters competition will be held for the first time in China from October 17 to 21 in Shanghai’s Baoshan district, according to information released at the event’s press conference.

The masters competition will feature three core individual rope events: 30-second speed jump, 3-minute endurance jump, and individual freestyle. The top overall performer in each event will be awarded the “Master” title. The event will also include exciting segments such as individual freestyle battle performances and Guinness World Record challenge attempts. The competition is expected to bring together over 200 top athletes from around the world, with nearly 60 participants coming from overseas.

During the event period, the first “Public Jump Rope Carnival” will also take place simultaneously. Through supporting activities including international jump rope training camps, online and offline jump rope challenges, sports markets, interactive performances by jump rope masters, and promotions of Shanghai’s Baoshan district, the event aims to achieve a two-way empowerment of “professional competition + comprehensive experience,” combining international standards with public participation. During the competition period, businesses in the hosting area will collaborate with over 100 merchants to offer exclusive discounts, with related activities expected to attract tens of thousands of participants.

From a sports perspective, this event fills the gap in China’s domestic top-level individual jump rope competitions, creating an exchange platform for global athletes and promoting the integration of Chinese jump rope with international standards. From a regional development perspective, Shanghai’s Baoshan district is using the event to establish “jump rope” as a distinctive brand. Through the “competition + business district + cultural tourism” model, the event aims to stimulate consumption, promote the integrated development of sports, commerce, culture, and tourism, while contributing to Shanghai’s goal of becoming a world-renowned sports city.

The decision to host China’s first International Jump Rope Masters competition in Shanghai was based on several factors: China’s competitive jump rope level has reached world-class standards, with Chinese athletes repeatedly winning honors at world championships, providing the talent foundation for hosting world-class events; there is market demand for individual jump rope competitions, which are relatively rare, requiring an internationally-scaled event focused on individual jump rope “all-around” excellence that brings together top athletes from various teams to create an exchange platform, inspiring elite athletes to achieve greater technical breakthroughs while providing audiences with high-level competitive performances; and Shanghai’s background in building a world-renowned sports city, combined with the strong foundation of Shanghai Baoshan’s Gaojing Town as a “global jump rope demonstration town,” provides fertile ground for hosting such international competitions. This will serve as an important window for Chinese jump rope to engage in dialogue with the world.
