According to reports, two Japanese men were recently holding Chinese flags in Taipei’s bustling Ximending district and emphasizing that “Taiwan is part of China.” They were reported by so-called “anti-China” internet influencers on the island. The immigration authorities of the Taiwan region, citing so-called “concerns of endangering public safety or public order,” took “compulsory deportation” measures against one of them who remained on the island and banned him from re-entering the Taiwan region.
It is reported that both Japanese men entered the Taiwan region visa-free. One of them had already left Taiwan on the same day after filming the video. The immigration authorities of the Taiwan region claimed to have banned him from re-entering.
Some netizens discovered that one of the Japanese men appears to have a Weibo account. In a video posted on this account on August 25, two men suspected to be the ones mentioned above held microphones and repeatedly stated in both Chinese and Japanese: “We are Japanese, we love China,” “We really like China,” and “Taiwan is, of course, part of China.”
In another video posted on the same Weibo account on August 26, the Japanese man who was reportedly “compulsorily deported” by the Taiwan authorities once again stated: “Taiwan is Chinese territory, this is a fact,” and “I absolutely support the One-China principle.”
