19 patents, valued at 100 million yuan, accounting for a 22.73% equity stake, driving the construction of a 50-million-yuan radar life detector production line—in Changsha, Hunan, a handshake between Central South University and Hunan Zhengshen Technology Co., Ltd. has yielded fruitful results.

In recent years, the number of patent transfers from Central South University has continued to grow, exceeding 500 in 2025. The university’s Intellectual Property Center has played a key role in this process.

“We inventoried over 14,000 technical patents held by the university and identified a batch with high application value,” explained a relevant person in charge of the center. The center, focusing on application scenarios, sorted out 19 patents, built 3 high-value portfolios, and then conducted market research, ultimately reaching a cooperation agreement with Zhengshen Technology. The valuation for the capital increase and equity stake, share ratio, and profit distribution were confirmed according to market principles.

By improving the entire process mechanism for identifying, packaging, and transferring high-value patents to revitalize them, Changsha is continuously expanding the coverage of intellectual property center construction in universities. Local university intellectual property centers have already guided over 10,000 enterprises to deeply participate in revitalizing the stock of patents. A number of small and medium-sized enterprises have embarked on a fast track of development by relying on patent industrialization.
