On September 29, Beijing – Yesterday, over 30 residents visited the Tugou Service Area on the Jingcheng Expressway to learn about smart commercial facilities and gain knowledge about new energy vehicle maintenance. As the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays approach, the expressway operator has also brought Beijing’s “time-honored brands” into the service area. “The product variety is incredibly rich, and the quality is guaranteed. Now when I return to my hometown, I can conveniently shop for ‘Beijing specialties’ at the service area along the way,” said one resident.

That day, the Shoufa Industrial and Trade Company under the Shoufa Group held a “Capital State-Owned Enterprise Open Day” event, inviting residents to visit Beijing’s first open service area – the Tugou Service Area on the Jingcheng Expressway. “At this service area, we’re breaking traditional geographical boundaries to achieve seamless integration between the expressway and the city. Residents can freely enter and exit the service area, conveniently enjoying open shopping, dining, ETC services, and more,” explained a company representative.

The Tugou Service Area on the Jingcheng Expressway is hosting a time-honored brand market. The “Old Brands on the Road” market covers multiple categories including food, beverages, daily necessities, and cultural souvenirs. Beijing’s time-honored brands such as Tongrentang, Daming Glasses, Maolong, Hongdu, Yili, and Beibingyang are collectively showcased, allowing travelers to experience the unique charm of “Beijing culture” during their journey.

“We’re collaborating with municipal state-owned enterprises to deeply integrate Beijing’s time-honored brands with expressway transportation scenarios, jointly creating new cultural and consumption experiences on the highway for travelers,” said a company representative. The time-honored brand market will also expand to other service areas including Baige on the Jingzang Expressway, Doudian on the Jinggang’ao Expressway, Taishitun on the Jingcheng Expressway, Yongle Parking Area on the Jingjin Expressway, Tianjiafu on the Jingha Expressway, and Hancunhe on the Jingkun Expressway, with activities continuing throughout the holiday period for travelers to visit and experience.

In the service area hall, freshly made oden is sold on-site, while the convenience store offers nearly a thousand different products. The “Belt and Road” International Goods Experience Hall displays a rich variety of imported goods. The hall also features 24-hour automated vending equipment including snack machines, meal preparation machines, and coffee machines, along with dining brands like Costa Coffee, providing diverse options for customers. One resident commented: “While refueling my car, I can enjoy a cup of coffee and browse the time-honored brand market – the experience is really great.”

New energy vehicle owners charging at the Tugou Service Area on the Jingcheng Expressway.

In the service area plaza, staff introduced the green energy network developed by the expressway service area operator, which includes charging, photovoltaic, energy storage, and hydrogen energy applications across multiple scenarios.

To alleviate range anxiety for new energy vehicle owners during the holiday period, the company will put into operation 6 super charging stations at key service areas, equipped with 12 600A liquid-cooled super charging units and 14 charging spaces. Compared to regular fast chargers, the super chargers will increase charging speed by more than double, requiring only 10 minutes to provide 500 kilometers of range, offering vehicle owners a “charging like refueling” convenience experience.

During peak passenger flow periods, the operator will deploy mobile charging vehicles at major high-traffic service areas and increase on-site staff for vehicle guidance, ensuring orderly operation of charging stations and minimizing charging vehicle queues to the greatest extent.

Additionally, the Tugou Service Area on the Jingcheng Expressway continues to improve its service facilities. Smart restrooms display real-time usage and environmental data, while accessible restrooms are available. The service area is equipped with maternal and child supplies, emergency services, smart cleaning robots, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and other facilities, allowing visitors to experience the thoughtful and convenient services of the capital’s service areas up close.
