Xi Jinping: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Has Grown into the World’s Largest Regional Organization
On the morning of September 1st, the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States was held at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center. The President presided over the meeting and delivered an important speech.
The President stated: Currently, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has grown into the world’s largest regional organization with 26 participating countries, cooperation across more than 50 fields, and a total economic output approaching 30 trillion US dollars. Its international influence and appeal continue to grow stronger.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a major Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance originally founded in 2001 by China, Russia, and four Central Asian nations. It evolved from the “Shanghai Five” mechanism, which was formed in 1996 to resolve border disputes and build mutual trust following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Today, it promotes cooperation on regional security, counter-terrorism, and economic development among its member states.
