From exam room setup to traffic safety and thoughtful services, Guangdong fully ensures the smooth progress of the exam
On June 7, the 2026 Guangdong summer college entrance exam officially began, as senior high school students entered the exam rooms to face the “major exam of their lives.”
Before the exam, many schools in Guangdong held events to cheer on the students. The exam period coincides with the “Dragon Boat Water” season in Guangdong, which brings frequent heavy rain and high temperatures. Across the province, various locations made warm preparations, with multiple departments working together to ensure the exam was standardized, orderly, safe, and smooth, from exam room setup to traffic safety and thoughtful services.
Campus heartwarming initiatives to help students take the exam
Days before the exam, many secondary schools launched various heartwarming send-off and exam site support measures.
On the afternoon of the 6th, sudden heavy rain hit many areas of Guangzhou. To ensure students could take the exam smoothly the next day, the Affiliated High School of Guangzhou University quickly activated rain-proof emergency measures, reinforcing the campus sunshade canopies and tightly wrapping the canopy gaps with waterproof pads to seal off potential water seepage. “Since the heavy rain can cause some damage to the canopies, the school will also conduct a full coverage inspection at 6 a.m. on the first day of the exam, checking and replacing any canopies with safety hazards one by one,” said Wang Ying, a school vice principal.
The canteen of Guangzhou Yuyan Middle School offered customized dishes with auspicious names like “Success in the Exam” and “Good Fortune,” and also set up separate changing rooms for male and female students, stocking emergency supplies such as clean uniforms, towels, slippers, and hair dryers. Guangdong Overseas Chinese High School built a “Victory Gate,” where senior high school teachers high-fived each student one by one to cheer them on.
Outside Guangzhou, measures from schools in other areas were equally heartwarming. Huizhou Comprehensive Senior High School provided free extra meals for senior students in the month before the exam, with nutritious food, and collected favorite songs from senior students to play on campus radio to ease exam stress. The entire senior class of Dongguan Middle School Songshan Lake Campus, along with parent representatives, went on a motivational hiking trip at Songshan Lake Zhuangyuanbi Park. Senior students at Zhanjiang Economic Development Zone No. 1 Middle School released paper airplanes with their wishes, while junior students sang “Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies” to send blessings to their seniors.
Multiple departments collaborate to create a protective network for the exam
To create a safe and orderly exam environment, before the exam, Guangdong police focused on three key areas: exam site safety, preventing and cracking down on exam-related crimes, and convenience service guarantees. They researched and issued 28 measures to fully ensure the safe and smooth progress of the 2026 college entrance exam.
Various locations implemented a “one exam site, one team, one plan” approach, with multiple police units such as public security, traffic management, special police, and patrol police working together and stationed at fixed points to create a safe and harmonious exam environment. Each exam site set up a “College Entrance Exam Security Convenience Service Post” to handle on-site exam-related police reports and requests quickly, and also stocked masks, disinfectant alcohol, emergency medications, and other supplies.
During the exam period, ensuring smooth and safe travel for students was equally important.
Guangzhou traffic police implemented temporary traffic controls on some sections of core areas in the city, setting up temporary facilities in advance at exam sites requiring controls. Control measures were implemented 30 minutes before the exam, prohibiting motor vehicles except for work vehicles and those from units and residents within the controlled area. Shenzhen traffic police deployed police drones and signal light pole drone nests for joint aerial patrols over main roads and roads around exam sites, real-time monitoring for illegal parking and road occupation, promptly identifying congestion risks and directing traffic flow. The Foshan Taxi Association, in collaboration with multiple caring enterprises, formed a “Caring Pioneer Fleet” of over 50 vehicles, setting up temporary emergency escort points and providing one-on-one free exam transport services for students.
