AirPods have become one of the best-selling digital products in the world and play a crucial role in Apple’s product lineup. However, in the headphone space, there’s another major battleground: over-ear headphones. Apple won’t let go of the AirPods Studio. According to the latest reports, the AirPods Studio will be released in late October 2020 and will cost 4,000 yuan.

Foreign media reports suggest that the AirPods Studio may be announced in a press release by the end of this month. The sport version will cost $350, while the premium luxury version will be priced at $599—similar to the current Beats Studio.

In addition to active noise cancellation, the AirPods Studio is also rumored to feature wear detection. By detecting the wearing status of the headphones, music can automatically pause when the headphones are removed and resume playback when they’re put back on—a highly convenient feature.

The headphones can also be worn in different positions, such as behind the user’s head. In this case, the ear cups will adjust the touch-sensitive surface orientation and interpret gestures accordingly. One of the biggest complaints about AirPods is the lack of volume controls. Users must rely on an iOS or Mac device to adjust volume or ask Siri to change it, which can be inconvenient.
