In August of this year

While receiving treatment at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital

A 22-year-old girl from Dianjiang, Chongqing, Hu Xinyao

With the help of a travel blogger

Completed a wedding that was destined to be unforgettable

There was no groom

She wore a pure white wedding dress

And solemnly married herself

“To be honest, when they put the wedding dress on me

I wasn’t smiling.”

Hu Xinyao recalled her feelings at that time

Still vividly

“But the moment I walked into the wedding venue

I couldn’t help but be moved to tears

That day, I married myself

And in my heart, I reaffirmed

The belief that ‘I must survive.'”

This special ceremony

Was the most precious encouragement she gave herself

On her eight-year journey battling illness

And also the most stubborn declaration to life

Eight years

Earning money for herself and “earning life” for herself

Hu Xinyao’s “battle against illness”

Started in 2017

At that time, the 14-year-old was diagnosed with vasculitis

From then on, she and her family

Embarked on a long and arduous journey seeking medical treatment

As time passed, her condition continued to worsen

From initial nephritis to gradually developing vasculitis,

End-stage renal failure, and heart failure

Over eight years, she became a “regular patient” at the hospital

And experienced dozens of critical illnesses

In March 2020

She received her first critical illness notice due to gastrointestinal bleeding

In March 2021, a lung infection led to “white lung”

She struggled for 7 days in the ICU

In June of this year, on her 22nd birthday

Hu Xinyao received another critical illness notice

This was the fifth critical illness notice she received within 10 days

She signed the notice alone

After treatment ended

She still returned alone to her rented room in Jiulongpo District

Even so, she never thought of giving up

Hu Xinyao receiving treatment in the hospital.

Eight years of seeking medical treatment

High medical expenses were an unavoidable challenge
