Chongqing, January 15th — The Chongqing State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission has released the “2026 Work List for Municipal Key State-owned Enterprises Serving the New Western Land-Sea Corridor.” It outlines a “roadmap” for state-owned enterprises to serve the corridor’s construction through seven measures: improving the infrastructure network, enhancing logistics services, enriching financial product offerings, developing corridor economy industries, strengthening cultural exchanges, building connection platforms, and improving the quality and efficiency of business delegation visits.
By 2026, a batch of critical infrastructure projects, considered the “throat” of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, will reach key milestones. Major projects like the Chongqing-Wanzhou and Chongqing-Xi’an high-speed railways are progressing on schedule. The Qianjiang-Jishou high-speed railway is expected to commence construction within the year, helping Chongqing build a rapid railway network connecting neighboring provinces and Southeast Asia.
Simultaneously, Chongqing’s state-owned enterprises are stepping out more steadily. Minsheng Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd. will deepen its focus on the “Three Countries, Three Warehouses” (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos). Building on the completion of the first phase of the Thailand warehouse, it aims to achieve breakthrough progress in the construction of the Vietnam warehouse, creating a high-standard overseas demonstration warehouse. Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport will also intensively add international routes, striving to newly open or increase frequency on more than six international routes, shortening the “air distance” between Chongqing and the world.
Chongqing Logistics Group will collaborate with central state-owned enterprises to enhance hub operational efficiency through intelligent upgrades, achieving “seamless connection” between various transportation modes. According to the group’s plan, the baseline target for the number of cross-border road freight services operated in 2026 will increase by over 15% year-on-year.
On the industrial side, Chongqing’s state-owned enterprises are accelerating efforts to deeply embed “Made in Chongqing” products into the global supply chain. Qingling Motors (Group) Co., Ltd. plans to establish two new overseas assembly plants to drive commercial vehicle export sales to a new high. Chongqing Water and Environment Holding Group will implement waste-to-energy projects in ASEAN countries at a high level.
Furthermore, Chongqing is actively conducting international economic and trade matchmaking activities to promote the linked development of state-owned and foreign enterprises. By upgrading the “Yumaotong Digital Intelligent Trade Platform,” Chongqing will help more small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises and distinctive agricultural products, as well as hardware and machinery from districts and counties, to go global, supporting integrated growth in the city’s foreign trade.
New Western Land-Sea Corridor
The New Western Land-Sea Corridor is a major international trade and logistics route launched in 2017, connecting western China to global markets. It primarily uses rail and sea transport from Chongqing to ports in Southeast Asia, offering a faster alternative to traditional river or eastern sea routes. This initiative is a key part of China’s Belt and Road strategy to boost development in its inland western regions.
Chongqing-Wanzhou high-speed railway
The Chongqing-Wanzhou high-speed railway is a major rail link in southwestern China, opened in 2016, that significantly cuts travel time between Chongqing’s main urban area and the northeastern district of Wanzhou. It forms a crucial section of the larger Chongqing–Zhengzhou high-speed rail corridor, enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration. Its construction involved overcoming challenging mountainous terrain, symbolizing China’s rapid advancement in high-speed rail infrastructure.
Chongqing-Xi’an high-speed railway
The Chongqing-Xi’an high-speed railway is a major rail link in central China, opened in 2017, that significantly reduces travel time between the two cities to about five hours. It traverses the mountainous Qinling region, requiring extensive tunneling and bridge engineering to complete. The line forms a key section of China’s national high-speed rail network, enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration.
Qianjiang-Jishou high-speed railway
The Qianjiang-Jishou high-speed railway is a key rail link in Hunan Province, China, connecting Qianjiang District in Chongqing to Jishou City. It opened in December 2021 as part of China’s national high-speed network, significantly cutting travel time through the mountainous Wuling region and boosting regional economic integration. The line represents a major engineering achievement, featuring numerous bridges and tunnels to navigate the challenging terrain.
Thailand warehouse
The term “Thailand warehouse” is not a specific cultural site, but it could refer to the **Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC)**, a major contemporary arts venue. Housed in a modern building with a distinctive spiral design, it opened in 2008 to provide a central hub for Thai and international visual arts, music, theater, and film. Its establishment addressed a long-standing need for a large, public, non-commercial arts space in the heart of Bangkok.
Vietnam warehouse
The term “Vietnam warehouse” is not a specific, recognized cultural or historical site. It could refer to a generic storage facility in Vietnam or, in a historical context, to the many warehouses used during the Vietnam War for military logistics, such as those at the deep-water port of Da Nang. These wartime warehouses played a crucial role in the storage and distribution of supplies during the conflict.
Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport
Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is the primary aviation hub serving Chongqing, China, opening in 1990 to replace the older Baishiyi Airport. It has since undergone major expansions, including the opening of Terminal 3 in 2017, to accommodate the city’s rapid growth as a major economic center in western China. Today, it is a crucial gateway and a key air cargo hub for the region.
Yumaotong Digital Intelligent Trade Platform
Yumaotong Digital Intelligent Trade Platform is a modern e-commerce and trade facilitation system developed in China, designed to streamline cross-border and domestic business transactions through digital tools and data analytics. While it does not have a long historical legacy like a physical cultural site, it represents a contemporary initiative within China’s broader push towards digital economy integration, emerging in recent years as part of technological advancements in trade infrastructure.
