Recently, the Sichuan regional judging session of the 11th Asia Microfilm Art Festival was held in Chengdu. A total of 60 entries submitted by 10 organizations across the province were reviewed, divided into 5 categories. Among them, Chengdu Radio and Television Station won awards for 12 works.

Award-winning works include “Echoes of Civilization: A Dialogue Between Chinese and Greek Civilizations,” “Symbiosis,” “Chengdu Universiade,” and “Reunion at Jinyuan Sichuan Opera Trouve” in the documentary category; “The Screen at the Edge of the Sky,” “Mother’s Day Special Project: Portrait Blind Box—When Memory Becomes a Brush, Can You Sketch Your Mother’s Image?,” and “Tianfu Craftsmen: My ‘Top Stream’ Partner” in the public service advertisement (promotional video) and music television category; “The Art of Sino-French Symbiosis at the Tip of a Brush” and “Craftsmanship from Afar” in the international communication category; “Immersed in ‘Lacquer’: Chengdu Lacquer Art Chronicles,” “Our View of Civilization,” and “Exploring Chengdu’s Twelve Hours with Li Ziqi” in the Civilization Light category.

It is understood that since its inception in 2013, the Asia Microfilm Art Festival has built a bridge and link for promoting cultural exchange and cooperation among Asian countries, and has become an influential international microfilm event. To thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Second and Third Plenary Sessions of the 20th Central Committee, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations, support the “Belt and Road” initiative, and promote the prosperity and development of the microfilm (short video, micro-drama) art industry, the China Television Artists Association will host a series of events for the 11th Asia Microfilm Art Festival in Lincang City, Yunnan Province.

Chengdu Universiade

The Chengdu Universiade refers to the 2021 Summer World University Games hosted by Chengdu, China, which were originally scheduled for 2021 but postponed to 2023 due to the global pandemic. This major international multi-sport event brought together university athletes from around the world and was held in numerous modern venues across the city.

Jinyuan Sichuan Opera Trouve

The Jinyuan Sichuan Opera Troupe is a modern performance group dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditional art of Sichuan opera, a historic Chinese form known for its face-changing (bian lian) technique. While the troupe itself does not have a long, storied history, it performs a repertoire of classic stories that date back centuries, helping to keep this important cultural heritage alive for contemporary audiences.

Tianfu Craftsmen

“Tianfu Craftsmen” refers to a cultural concept celebrating the master artisans and rich craft heritage of the Sichuan (Tianfu) region in China. It embodies a long history of exceptional craftsmanship in areas such as Shu embroidery, lacquerware, and bamboo weaving. This tradition highlights the skill, dedication, and cultural identity of the local artisans passed down through generations.

Sino-French Symbiosis

“Sino-French Symbiosis” refers to the historical and cultural exchange between China and France, often exemplified by sites like the former French Concession in Shanghai. This area, established in the 19th century, was a French-administered territory that blended European architecture with local Chinese life. It stands as a physical reminder of a complex colonial past and the enduring cultural intermingling between the two nations.

Chengdu Lacquer Art

Chengdu Lacquer Art is a renowned traditional Chinese craft with a history spanning over 3,000 years, originating during the Warring States period. It is celebrated for its intricate “carved-fill” technique, where artisans engrave designs into lacquerware and inlay them with vibrant colors. This art form remains a significant cultural symbol of Chengdu, representing a blend of exquisite craftsmanship and enduring historical heritage.

Li Ziqi

Li Ziqi is a Chinese internet celebrity and artisan known for her pastoral lifestyle videos, not a physical place or cultural site. She gained fame by showcasing traditional Chinese cooking, crafts, and rural life through her highly produced YouTube and social media content. Her work, which began around 2016, is celebrated for its aesthetic portrayal of an idealized, self-sufficient Chinese countryside heritage.

Belt and Road

Lincang City

Lincang City is a prefecture-level city in Yunnan Province, China, historically significant as a key hub on the ancient Tea Horse Road. It is renowned for its production of premium Pu-erh tea and is home to several ethnic minority groups, including the Wa and Lahu people.
