On Saturday, St. Petersburg will feel the influence of a cyclone from Scandinavia. This will manifest as light rains and gusty winds.

The region is expected to have cloudy and windy weather today, and light rains will limit the warming of the air. Nevertheless, thermometers will rise to +16…+18 degrees in St. Petersburg and up to +14…+19 degrees in the Leningrad region.

The Main Directorate of the Russian Emergency Ministry for St. Petersburg also warns of gusty winds up to 17 m/s.

On Sunday afternoon it will be warmer – up to +20…+22 degrees.

St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg is a historic Russian city founded in 1703 by Tsar Peter the Great as his “window to the West.” It served as the imperial capital of Russia for over two centuries and is renowned for its elegant baroque and neoclassical architecture, including the Winter Palace and the Hermitage Museum. The city’s grand canals and palaces have earned it the nickname “Venice of the North.”

Leningrad region

The Leningrad region is a federal subject of Russia surrounding, but not including, the city of Saint Petersburg. Historically, it is the heartland of the Novgorod Republic and later the Russian Empire, containing numerous historic towns, palaces, and fortresses. The region was the site of the brutal 872-day Siege of Leningrad by German forces during World War II, a defining event in its modern history.

Scandinavia

Scandinavia is a historical and cultural region in Northern Europe comprising the kingdoms of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, united by common Germanic heritage and linguistic roots. It is renowned for its Viking Age history from the 8th to 11th centuries, when Norse seafarers explored, traded, and settled across vast areas of Europe. The region is also famous for its modern social welfare models, stunning natural landscapes of fjords and northern lights, and design aesthetics.
