Depok –
A woman in Depok City, West Java, made a false report about a motorcycle robbery, when in fact she had sold her motorcycle to pay off an online loan. The woman, named Tasya Khairini, has apologized.
Tasya admitted to making a false report claiming she was robbed. In reality, she sold the motorcycle to her neighbor for 13.5 million Rupiah.
“The report I made yesterday, claiming I was robbed, was false. The truth is I sold my motorcycle to my neighbor for 13.5 million Rupiah, and the vehicle registration document I had pawned for 4 million Rupiah,” she said.
Tasya admitted she resorted to making the false report because she was burdened by online loan debt.
“My motive for making that report was because I was burdened by online loans,” she concluded.
Separately, the Head of Public Relations for the Depok Metro Police, AKP Made Budi, stated that the money from the motorcycle sale was used by Tasya.
“The money from the sale of the motorcycle was used to pay off the online loan debt,” said Made.
Made stated that Tasya made the false robbery report because she was afraid her parents would find out she had sold the motorcycle.
“(The motive was) wanting to pay off the online loan, but the money wasn’t enough. (She filed the report) so her parents wouldn’t find out she sold the motorcycle,” he said.
In addition to making the false robbery report, Tasya also spread the false information on social media. This caused unrest in the community.
“Ironically, after making the police report, Tasya also spread the false information to someone who then reported it to the media. As a result, the news went viral and caused unrest in the community,” he said.
As a result of her actions, Tasya has been charged under Article 220 regarding false reporting. The case is currently under investigation by the police.
