IndiGo Airlines has issued a new travel advisory following the extension of the closure of Kathmandu Airport. According to the advisory, all flights to and from Kathmandu will remain canceled until 6 PM on September 10. This decision has been made in view of the ongoing protests in Nepal and the security situation at the airport.

IndiGo stated on its official social media platforms, “We understand the inconvenience this uncertainty is causing to passengers. The company has assured passengers that flexible options will be available to them. Under this, the waiver on rescheduling and cancellation for flights to and from Kathmandu will remain in effect until September 12.

This facility will apply to passengers who had made their bookings on or before September 9. Affected passengers can visit the airline’s website to choose their travel options or for a refund.”

Although flights are currently suspended, IndiGo teams are monitoring the situation in coordination with local authorities. The company says that flight services will resume as soon as permission is granted. Regular updates will be shared through the airline’s official channels for this purpose. IndiGo has appealed to passengers to remain patient and cooperative.

For the past few days, protests led by Gen-Z have been taking place in Nepal, which led to the closure of Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport.

Protesters took to the streets against government corruption and restrictions on social media. This violence has resulted in several deaths and hundreds injured.

Given the current situation, the army has been deployed to ensure airport security.

IndiGo’s move has affected many passengers, especially those planning to travel from Nepal to India or other countries. The airline said passenger safety and convenience is its priority.

The airline has advised passengers to check for official updates periodically so they can plan their travel accordingly.
