Tiananmen Square
Tiananmen Square is a large city square in the center of Beijing, China, named after the Tiananmen Gate (Gate of Heavenly Peace) to its north. It has significant cultural and political importance, having been the site of several key events in Chinese history, including the proclamation of the People’s Republic of China by Mao Zedong in 1949.
