A total of 63 residents of Tangerang City can now enjoy new electricity connections for free through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program titled “Light Up The Dream,” initiated by PT PLN (Persero) nationally.
The ceremonial event for the simultaneous activation of Light Up The Dream ‘Electricity to Light Up Dreams’ by UP3 Cikokol was held symbolically on Jalan H Masnyur, RT 02/05, Gang H Masan, Cipondoh District, Tangerang City, Banten Province.
The program was realized out of concern from PLN employees who voluntarily set aside a portion of their earnings to help underprivileged communities so they could obtain independent electricity connections.
“This program aims to help underprivileged communities access electricity legally and safely. This is a tangible form of PLN’s concern for communities that have so far lacked adequate electricity access,” explained a representative.
They also want to ensure that electricity is not just a necessity but a right that can be enjoyed by all levels of society.
“Our commitment to continue supporting equitable energy access in Indonesia,” added the representative.
Most beneficiaries of this program come from pre-prosperous families who previously could not afford to install electricity independently.
One recipient, Sukari, expressed great gratitude. Until now, he had to share electricity from his brother’s house to power lights and simple electronic devices.
“Alhamdulillah, very happy, our family feels greatly helped by this program. So I no longer have to borrow electricity from my brother next door. Insyaallah, I can pay for electricity independently,” said Sukari.
Meanwhile, the Cipondoh District Head appreciated this positive step for the welfare of Tangerang City residents through these free new electricity connections.
It is hoped this will serve as an example of employee concern to bring forward other programs that prosper and advance Tangerang City.
“This is a collaboration worth emulating for other programs. Because it aligns with the Tangerang Mayor’s directives regarding pentahelix, where all elements are needed to advance Tangerang City for the better,” they said.
