On the morning of July 15, President Xi Jinping met collectively with foreign ministers and heads of permanent bodies of member states attending the Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People.
Great Hall of the People
The Great Hall of the People is a state building located on the western edge of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. It was constructed in just ten months and completed in 1959 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. The hall serves as the meeting place for the National People’s Congress and for major political and diplomatic events.
