From August 15th to 18th, the 2025 UJR Jump Rope Open and UJR Cup were held in Huai’an, Jiangsu. This marked the first time the Universal Jump Rope Union (UJR) held an event in mainland China, attracting nearly a thousand athletes from 15 countries and regions to compete. The Dongguan team, composed of students from Bubugao Primary School in Guancheng, Zhisheng School in Humen, and the Ninth Sunshine Primary School in Nancheng, delivered an outstanding performance, shining on the international stage with an excellent result of 6 gold, 8 silver, and 9 bronze medals.

Facing strong opponents, the Dongguan team members met every challenge with tenacious willpower and seamless teamwork. In the relay events, the athletes worked closely together, winning applause with their smooth baton passes and steady performances; in the individual events, the team members remained composed, pushing their limits with superb skill.

In the particularly competitive World Cup Double Unders Relay event, Wang Yuqi from the Ninth Sunshine Primary School in Nancheng and Li Luhang from Zhisheng School in Humen formed a “golden duo.” Starting from the round of 64, they competed through 5 rounds and ultimately secured a spot in the finals. In the championship match, these two young athletes, relying on their exceptional skill and strong mental fortitude, won the event’s overall championship with a score of 191 to 188.

Students Wang Yuqi and Li Luhang competed in the 2×30 Second Double Unders Relay, winning the overall championship and first place.

The coaches of the Dongguan team, who also competed as athletes, demonstrated superb skill to win the championship in the 4×30 Second Single Unders Relay event.

Every medal on the field is a badge of honor forged from sweat. The Dongguan team’s performance embodied the never-give-up spirit of sports and showcased the results of the city’s integration of sports and education. We look forward to them continuing to break through their limits and shine even brighter on future competition stages!

Bubugao Primary School

Guancheng

Humen

Humen, also known as the Bocca Tigris, is a strategic coastal town in Guangdong, China, historically guarding the maritime entrance to the Pearl River Delta. It is most famous for the 1839 destruction of confiscated British opium by Commissioner Lin Zexu, an event that directly precipitated the First Opium War. Today, the site features a museum and the remains of ancient forts that commemorate its role in this pivotal moment of modern Chinese history.
