A religious gathering at the Dukuh Zamrud Housing Complex in Cimuning, Mustikajaya, Bekasi City, has sparked controversy. The religious activities held every weekend at Umi Cinta’s home faced rejection from residents following rumors of a ‘pay Rp 1 million to enter heaven’ teaching.

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Bekasi City together with the Bekasi City Inter-Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) have stepped in to investigate the reports. Umi Cinta was asked for clarification to verify the truth of the information circulating among the public.

Previously, the Bekasi City MUI stated they had received information from residents regarding the gathering, which was considered to have a number of ‘peculiarities’. The first was about the closed nature of the gathering.

Then, the activity was held simultaneously for male and female congregants. Third, regarding the issue of paying Rp 1 million to enter heaven, they are still conducting a deeper investigation.

“Furthermore, it is said there was also a dog. We will cross-check this in the field,” said the Chairman of the Bekasi City MUI.

In response to this, the Bekasi City MUI together with the FKUB and local leadership coordination forum elements sat down with Umi Cinta. The meeting was held at the Cimuning Village office.

The MUI together with the FKUB, village officials, and residents listened to the explanations. During this process, Umi Cinta denied the accusations about the lure of ‘pay Rp 1 million to enter heaven’.

As a result of the meeting, the MUI stated that Umi Cinta’s religious gathering does not deviate from Islamic teachings. However, Umi Cinta’s gathering activities were temporarily moved while she processes her permits.
