BEKASI CITY – The Election Organizer Ethics Council (DKPP) of the Republic of Indonesia has declared that a member of the Bekasi City General Elections Commission (KPU), Afif Fauzi, was proven to have violated the code of ethics and guidelines for election organizers during the 2024 Bekasi City regional election.

In its decision, Case Number 59-PKE-DKPP/I/2025, the DKPP imposed a Warning sanction on the respondent, Afif Fauzi, in his capacity as a member of the Bekasi City KPU. In addition to Afif Fauzi, the DKPP also imposed a Warning sanction on the Sub-district Election Committee (PPK) of Pondok Melati.

When contacted for confirmation, the Chairman of the Bekasi City KPU stated that the party is still awaiting the decision that will be issued by the Indonesian KPU regarding the Bekasi City KPU member.

“Currently, our position is that we are waiting for the copy of the follow-up decision from the Indonesian KPU. In previous cases, it is common for the Indonesian KPU to issue a warning letter to the relevant member in the form of a reprimand,” said the Chairman on Friday.

“If the decision is a warning, it means there was a series of events leading to it. But usually, the severity of the violation determines the decision. The lightest decision is indeed a warning,” he continued.

The Chairman emphasized that the party is currently still waiting to see what specific warning sanction the Indonesian KPU will impose following the DKPP’s decision.

“The Indonesian KPU will later issue a specific warning sanction to the person concerned. The main point is that in the future, they must be more careful and uphold discipline and behavioral ethics.”

Previously, the Election Organizer Ethics Council (DKPP) had held a hearing to examine allegations of violations of the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP) in Case Number 59-PKE-DKPP/I/2025.

This case was reported by an individual. The report implicated a member of the Bekasi City KPU, Afif Fauzi, and a member of the Pondok Melati Sub-district Election Committee (PPK).

The complainant alleged that the respondents had violated the KEPP because they were suspected of engaging in money politics with the aim of winning a particular candidate pair in the 2024 Regional Election.
