From the Meiji to the Taisho period, the Shiroishi ward of Sapporo was a major brick production area. The first symposium on the “Suzuki Brick Manufacturing Place”, which was at the core of this industry, was held at the Sapporo Convention Center in the same district. Descendants of the founder and the factory manager at the time, along with others, gave lectures, attended by about 200 citizens.
