The leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Un, inspected one of the country’s largest munitions manufacturing companies, where he reviewed the main weapons production plans for the first half of 2026.

Kim praised the institution for completing its semi-annual production plan ahead of schedule, and also listened to a report on a long-term plan to expand the production of various types of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, according to official North Korean news on Sunday.

He also emphasized the need to increase missile production capacity to 2.5 times its current level over the next five years, through achieving regular annual growth, in order to meet the expected growing demand from the armed forces amid the restructuring of combat formations and units, stressing that this task represents a critically important strategic priority.

He further stressed the importance of implementing strict quality control systems and full compliance with inspection procedures, to ensure raising the level of military products and improving their efficiency.

The Korean Central News Agency quoted Kim Yo Jong as saying in her comment on the US authorities’ statement regarding the denuclearization of North Korea: “Pyongyang will under no circumstances allow a violation of the balance of power to protect the security of its sovereignty, and this sends a clear signal to the entire world that we will not make any concessions, even by an atom, regarding the defense of the country.”
