More than 10 years into her career in the music industry, having successfully broken into the top 5 female DJs in Asia, she holds many heartbreaking stories behind the glittering stage of entertainment.
The 33-year-old woman admitted she has to be patient and thick-skinned because she often faces various negative temptations, ranging from drug offers to new types of illegal substances while performing at nightclubs.
Dinar revealed that she has been very frequently offered drugs by people around her under the guise of being able to perform more relaxed while entertaining the audience.
“Oh yes, offering drugs, I’ve experienced it very often, and it depends on how we refuse,” she said when met in the Gunawarman area, South Jakarta, Wednesday (3/6/2026).
The woman whose real name is Dinar Miswari even experienced a tense moment when a big boss in a region openly offered her drugs.
“There was someone who openly offered, in a certain area, he was like a big boss with tight security, and suddenly I thought he was going to give me something like a ring in a box. When opened, it was like a type of Inex, grains like Inex, and he offered it to me,” she explained.
Facing a dangerous situation in someone else’s territory, the Bandung-born woman chose to refuse politely to ensure her safety.
“Because it’s someone else’s city, we have to refuse slowly, politely, because it’s dangerous in someone else’s city. Because the nightlife world probably has many mafias and such,” she said.
Not only that, the singer of ‘Potel Pala Barbie’ also often gets offered other unusual items like vibrating vapes (pods) and helium gas, which are claimed to provide a floating (high) effect.
“Before the vibrating pod went viral recently, many people offered it to me, saying ‘if you want to do a show, just inhale this three times, and you’ll be high until morning.’ It’s confusing, how can a vape make you high until morning? That’s impossible, it’s a lie. There were also offers of balloons filled with helium. Inhaling the gas can make you drunk,” she explained.
Principle of Avoiding Partying and Refusing Boyfriends Due to Trauma
Thanks to her determination to focus on work and not get involved in “messy things,” Dinar has been able to secure her income for the future.
Contrary to the stereotype of DJs associated with a lavish lifestyle, Dinar chooses to allocate her money to saving and business, including a coal barge trading business she is currently running.
“Why can I have assets like this? I save. I don’t like partying, I save, I put my money away, I buy things or create businesses that generate income for me. So, as for other people, I see other DJs who like to party and have fun, pay for parties, I don’t want to. Because I already party, why do I have to pay again?” Dinar continued.
