Hyderabad, A protest was organized under the auspices of the Cow Protection Department of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) demanding strict implementation of the cow protection law in the state. During the protest held at Abids crossroads, VHP leaders tied black bands on their hands and raised their voices for the protection of bovine cattle. The state coordinator of the VHP said that the government has been urged for a long time to strictly enforce the Telangana Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act, 1977, but due to vote bank politics, the government is ignoring the laws.

The government has remained silent on open cow slaughters to appease the Majlis party. He stated that according to the said law, slaughtering bulls, cows, bovine cattle, and milk-producing buffaloes is prohibited, but the government is failing to implement this law. He mentioned that various programs have been running for several days for cow protection. He said that VHP and Bajrang Dal teams have rescued about 3,000 cows so far this year and have succeeded in preventing the illegal trafficking of more than one lakh bovine animals. The VHP leader, referring to the Toli Chowki incident, alleged that Bajrang Dal workers were arrested, creating unnecessary controversy.
