The North Sumatra-Aceh Regional Christian Education Council (MPKW) continues to demonstrate its commitment to building quality education and character development for children from an early age. The spirit of National Education Day and National Awakening Day serves as the momentum for holding the final round of the PAUD (Early Childhood Education) Competition at the North Sumatra level, which will take place on May 28, 2026.

This was conveyed by the General Chair of MPKW North Sumatra-Aceh, R.E. Nainggolan, during a visit with the Chair of the North Sumatra PAUD Mothers, Kahiyang Ayu, accompanied by the Vice Chair of the North Sumatra PAUD Mothers, Hj TD Hamidah Surya, and the Head of the North Sumatra Education Office, Alexander Sinulingga, on Tuesday (May 26, 2026), at the PKK North Sumatra Office on Jalan Cik Ditiro, Medan.

During the meeting, RE Nainggolan outlined the history and role of MPKW North Sumatra-Aceh, which has focused on improving educational quality and shaping student character.

“This activity is part of the effort to build children’s creativity and character from an early age. Previously, the competition was held at the district/city level in areas such as North Tapanuli, Karo, Pematangsiantar, and Medan City,” he said.

The Head of the Competition Committee, Pdt Oklim Tarigan, stated that holding the event in May was intentionally chosen to strengthen the spirit of educational revival.

“The momentum of National Education Day and National Awakening Day serves as the driving spirit behind this activity,” he said.

The competition categories include drawing, coloring, solo vocal, and storytelling for PAUD level up to elementary school students in grades 1 to 3.

During the occasion, RE Nainggolan also directly invited the North Sumatra PAUD Mothers to attend the award ceremony and closing of the event on May 28, 2026.

In response to the invitation, Kahiyang Ayu expressed appreciation and support for the activity, which she considered capable of motivating and developing children’s creativity from an early age.

“We support activities that can provide motivation and build children’s creativity. They will certainly enjoy playing while learning and spending time with their friends,” said Kahiyang Ayu.

A warm and friendly atmosphere characterized the meeting. During the souvenir presentation at the end of the event, RE Nainggolan sent greetings to the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, who is currently in Solo.

A light joke emerged when Kahiyang Ayu said with a smile, “I thought the greetings were for the gentleman with me,” referring to the Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution.

This moment further added to the intimate atmosphere of the meeting, which was full of support for the development of early childhood education in North Sumatra.
