The police are investigating the death of an elderly woman with the initials AA (70), who is suspected to be a victim of robbery in her home in Medan City, North Sumatra. The police have identified the robbery suspect.
“Yes, the investigation is ongoing, and we already have a lead on the suspect,” said the Medan Helvetia Police Chief during a confirmation.
He did not provide further details about the suspect. He explained that they are currently pursuing the perpetrator.
“(The suspect) is still at large,” he stated.
He added that the victim had a slash wound on her neck and blunt force injuries on her face. However, the police are still awaiting the autopsy results.
“Based on the initial crime scene investigation, there were wounds on the face and a slash wound on the neck. (The facial injuries) appear to be from a blunt object, but we are waiting for the autopsy confirmation,” he explained.
According to the information received, the victim’s husband was also present at the scene during the incident but is elderly and suffers from dementia.
As for the stolen items, he mentioned that jewelry and mobile phones were taken. The estimated loss is around Rp 100-150 million.
“What is clear is that jewelry and several mobile phones were stolen. The estimated loss, according to the victim’s family, is around Rp 100-150 million, but we are still verifying,” he concluded.
Previously, it was reported that the elderly woman AA was found dead in her home on Jalan Balai Desa after allegedly being a victim of theft. She was discovered around 6:00 PM local time. The victim’s child then contacted the police.
“We received information from the victim’s child that their parent was found injured (lifeless) in the bedroom, with signs of violence (on the body),” said a police official on Saturday night.
