DEPOK (22/05/2026) – The Depok City Government is exploring a tactical partnership opportunity with the Vocational Education Program at the University of Indonesia. This collaborative effort aims to accelerate regional flagship programs to help Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) upgrade through interventions in marketing and modern business management.

This plan to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem emerged when the Deputy Mayor of Depok, Chandra Rahmansyah, attended the closing of the Vokhumfest 2026 festival initiated by the Public Relations Study Program of UI Vocational School in Depok City on Thursday (21/05).

Appreciation for Vokhumfest 2026 Achievements

In his commitment, Chandra expressed high appreciation for the concrete impact generated by the festival. This academic event was considered not merely an exhibition space but successfully provided tangible contributions to the growth of financial income for local business actors downstream.

“We greatly appreciate the Vokhumfest event because it has proven to provide an instant impact on increasing the revenue of partner MSMEs,” Chandra stated in his official remarks.

Cluster-Based Mentoring: Students as Business Mentors

The main indicator of success for the “MSME Upgrade” transformation program promoted by the Depok City Government relies on a consistent revenue growth trend. To achieve this target, the Depok City Government is projecting a long-term collaboration draft involving the active role of students as mentors for business management.

In the pilot phase at the Vokhumfest 2026 event, this micro-mentoring pattern was tested with the following scheme:

  • Mentoring Aspects: Fourth-semester students provided comprehensive assistance, ranging from restructuring internal management from scratch to optimizing market penetration and digital sales strategies.

  • Subject Coverage: This massive intervention was successfully applied directly to 18 local MSME units spread across the Depok City area and its surroundings.

“It is truly amazing to see the students able to provide direct mentoring and support MSME operations until their revenue increases,” explained the Deputy Mayor.

Plans for Cross-Sector Follow-Up Meeting

To institutionalize this temporary cooperation into a sustainable regular program, the Depok City Government has scheduled a macro-level follow-up meeting in the near future.

The meeting is planned to bring together the executive board, relevant agencies, the Depok City MSME association, and the leadership and expert lecturers from UI Vocational School. Through this consolidation, it is hoped that a blueprint for academic-government synergy will be created, capable of accelerating the modernization of real sector business actors in Depok City.
