Udhayanidhi Stalin Controversial Statement: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader MK Stalin’s son and Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin made a derogatory comment about Sanatana Dharma. In his statement, Udhayanidhi compared Sanatana Dharma to malaria and dengue.

Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said that some things cannot be opposed, they must be eradicated. We cannot oppose dengue, mosquitoes, malaria, or corona; we have to eliminate them, and similarly, we have to eliminate Sanatana.

Insult at ‘Sanatana Eradication Conference’

He further said that Sanatana should be opposed and eliminated. The name Sanatana comes from Sanskrit. It is against social justice and equality. Udhayanidhi also thanked the organizers for allowing him to speak at the event. He said that he appreciates the conference being named ‘Sanatana Eradication Conference’ instead of ‘Anti-Sanatana Conference’.

Reaction to Legal Rights Observatory

Not only that, on a post by an account named Legal Rights Observatory on social media platform X, which stated that they are considering legal action against Udhayanidhi Stalin, Udhayanidhi also responded.

‘I am ready for any legal challenge’

Responding to the LRO post, Udhayanidhi Stalin wrote, “Bring it on. I am ready to face any legal challenge. We will not be intimidated by such saffron threats. We, the followers of Periyar, Anna, and Kalaignar, will always fight to uphold social justice and establish an egalitarian society.”

He further said that under the leadership of CM MK Stalin, they will continue to struggle to uphold social justice. I will say this today, tomorrow, and always: our resolve to stop Sanatana Dharma from the Dravidian land will not diminish even a little.

DMK leaders and ministers also present

Apart from Udhayanidhi Stalin, several other DMK leaders also attended the Sanatana Eradication Conference. Among them, Tamil Nadu Government Human Resources Minister PK Sekhar Babu also participated. It is noted that Sekhar Babu also controls ancient Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu.

Sanatana Dharma

Sanatana Dharma, often referred to as Hinduism, is one of the world’s oldest spiritual traditions, with roots dating back over 4,000 years to the Indus Valley civilization. The term “Sanatana Dharma” translates to “eternal duty” or “eternal way,” emphasizing its timeless principles of righteousness, cosmic order, and spiritual liberation. Rather than a single religion, it is a diverse family of philosophies, rituals, and texts, including the Vedas and Upanishads, that have evolved across the Indian subcontinent.

Dravidian land

The term “Dravidian land” refers to the southern region of the Indian subcontinent, primarily associated with the Dravidian-speaking peoples, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam communities. Historically, this area was home to ancient civilizations like the Indus Valley (with some links) and powerful kingdoms such as the Cholas, Pandyas, and Cheras, which flourished from around 300 BCE. The region is renowned for its distinct cultural heritage, including classical languages, Dravidian architecture in temples, and a rich tradition of literature and arts.

ancient Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu

The ancient Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu are renowned for their towering gopurams (gateway towers), intricate stone carvings, and vibrant Dravidian architecture. Many, such as the Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur, were built by the Chola dynasty during the 11th century and reflect the region’s rich religious and artistic heritage. These temples served not only as places of worship but also as centers of economic, cultural, and social life, preserving centuries of Tamil tradition.
