Saudi Al-Nasr was crowned champion of the Saudi Roshn Professional League after defeating Damk 4-1 in the match held tonight at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, in the 34th and final round, securing the title officially in a season that remained exciting until the last moments.
Al-Nasr’s goals were scored by Senegalese Sadio Mane, Frenchman Coman, and Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo completed the quartet with two goals, while Damk scored their only goal through Sila.
In another match, Saudi Al-Hilal defeated Al-Fayha 1-0 with a goal by Sultan Mandash, but the victory was not enough to snatch the lead or change the identity of the champion.
This is Al-Nasr’s first league title since Cristiano Ronaldo joined, adding a new achievement to the Portuguese star’s historic career spanning major global leagues.
According to the latest report from the Documentation Committee at the start of the current season, Al-Nasr raised its tally to 11 titles in the history of the Saudi league under its various names, continuing to strengthen its position in Saudi football.
Al-Hilal leads the honor roll of Saudi league champions with 21 titles, followed by Al-Ittihad with 14 titles, then Al-Nasr with 11 titles, while Al-Ahli has 9 titles, Al-Shabab has 6 titles, Al-Ettifaq has two titles, and both Al-Wehda and Al-Fateh have one title each.
The season saw many fluctuations for Al-Nasr, after losing the final of the second Asian Champions League and stumbling in crucial matches, before regaining balance and successfully clinching the lead in the final round.
The team is technically led by Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who succeeded in bringing the team back to local podiums, supported by a group of local and foreign stars led by legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
With the league ending, the identity of the clubs participating in Asia was decided, as Al-Nasr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, and Al-Qadsiah qualified directly for the Asian Champions League Elite, while Al-Ittihad enters the playoffs, and Al-Taawoun qualified for the second Asian Champions League.
Regarding relegation, clubs Damk, Al-Okhdood, and Al-Najma bid farewell to the Roshn League after the season ended.
Thus, the Saudi football season concluded with Al-Ahli winning the Super Cup and the Asian Champions League Elite, Al-Hilal winning the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, before the curtain fell with Al-Nasr crowned league champion.
