Income Tax Department Holds Dialogue with Representatives of Trade, Industry, and Professional Organizations
Surat. Under the direction of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Surat, the office of the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax-1 organized a nationwide awareness campaign on the new Income Tax Act-2025, called “Aarambh 2026,” on Thursday at the Dwarka Hall of Maharaja Agrasen Palace located at City Light.
The main objective of the program was to spread awareness about the provisions of the new Income Tax Act-2025, its implementation, and the simplifications made for taxpayers, as well as to establish dialogue with various stakeholders.
The Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Surat, Dr. N. C. Swain, was present as the chief guest at the event. On this occasion, Priya Ranjan Ghosh, Principal Director of Income Tax (Investigation), along with several other senior officers of the Income Tax Department, were also present.
Many representatives from trade, industry, the textile sector, and professional organizations participated in the program. These included Jagdish Khunt, President of the Surat Diamond Association; Rahul Agarwal, from the ICAI Surat Branch; Jitendrabhai Vakhariya, from the South Gujarat Textile Processors Association; and FOSTA head Kailas Hakim.
In addition, J. P. Agarwal, Pramod Chaudhary, Bharat Anadhad, Rohan Desai, and Farukh Patel, along with other dignitaries, were also present.
In his address, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Dr. N. C. Swain said that the new Income Tax Act-2025 has been notified keeping in mind the changing global digital environment and technological revolution.
He explained that previously, to understand the various provisions of the Income Tax Act-1961, one had to study many sections, whereas now the provisions related to salary, business income, capital gains, and income from other sources have been simplified and systematically integrated.
He stated that the objective of the new act is to enable taxpayers to easily understand the rules and comply with them without expert assistance.
The organizer of the program, U. B. Mishra, said that through the new Income Tax Act-2025, complex provisions have been given a simple and more practical form. This will make it easier for taxpayers to prepare their income tax returns, and the simplification of provisions is expected to reduce unnecessary legal disputes.
The Income Tax Department described this campaign as an important initiative towards transparency, awareness, and better engagement with taxpayers.
