DEPOK (20/05/2026) – The hostage crisis in the international waters of the Eastern Mediterranean has entered a new phase. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that all Indonesian citizens participating in the humanitarian mission of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2026 have now been arrested and detained by Israeli military authorities.
With two new victims, the total number of Indonesian delegates taken captive by the Israeli Defense Forces now stands at nine people.
“Yes, all nine Indonesian citizens are detained,” confirmed a representative from the Directorate of Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, when asked for an official statement.

This latest arrest information was first detected by the GSF Command Center based in Turkey, before being validated by the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) in Jakarta.
The last two Indonesian citizens confirmed to have lost contact and been detained are Asad Aras Muhammad (a volunteer for Spirit of Aqso) and Hendro Prasetyo (a volunteer for SMART 171). Both were on board the Kasr-1 Sadabat ship.
“We confirm the interception of the Kasr-1 Sadabat ship. An SOS (emergency) message from Hendro and Asad has been sent, indicating that all Indonesian citizens on this humanitarian mission are now officially detained by Israel,” explained a GPCI Media Coordinator.
