Hyderabad, The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Hyderabad, busted a gang illegally manufacturing and smuggling alprazolam in Siddipet, seizing 39.470 kg of alprazolam and 8.536 million rupees. According to an NCB press release, based on a tip-off, two four-wheelers were stopped near Kalakunta Colony on the Siddipet Outer Ring Road. During this operation, two individuals, aged 48 and 30, were caught illegally buying and selling alprazolam without a valid license.
During the search, 39.470 kg of alprazolam and 8,536,200 rupees were recovered from both vehicles and the accused. This money was obtained from the sale of narcotics. It was reported that alprazolam is prohibited from being manufactured and sold without permission under the NDPS Act-1985. During interrogation, based on the information provided by one accused, the NCB team arrested another individual, aged 49, from the Madinaguda area of Hyderabad.

Investigation revealed that the accused had been involved in this illegal trade for a long time. The third arrested accused holds an MSc degree in chemistry and worked as a freelance chemist. He admitted during questioning that he secretly prepared alprazolam in his laboratory located in the Prashant Nagar area of Hyderabad. The NCB stated that the three accused revealed they had smuggled about 150 kg of alprazolam over the past five years. All three accused were arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, produced before the Siddipet court, and sent to judicial custody.
