BEKASI CITY – The administrators of the Cempaka 2 Integrated Health Service Post (Posyandu) in RT 005 RW 018, Jakasetia Village, South Bekasi District, are targeting all pregnant women and toddlers to prevent stunting, malnutrition, childbirth complications, and pregnancy-related health issues.
The head of Posyandu RT 005 stated that residents in the area are highly enthusiastic about every health service activity conducted by the Posyandu. According to her, the community is very health-conscious.
“Thankfully, pregnant women and mothers with toddlers are very enthusiastic whenever Posyandu activities are held. They understand the importance of maintaining their health and that of their babies,” she said during a Posyandu event.
In addition to providing health services, she explained that her team conducts door-to-door visits in the neighborhood to ensure no pregnant women are missed.
“We are very focused on the health of pregnant women and toddlers, ensuring no one is overlooked. That’s why we go door-to-door, urging pregnant women to maintain their health and ensuring toddlers receive balanced nutrition,” she added.
The head of RT 005 confirmed that every pregnant woman and toddler in the area receives health services through Posyandu Cempaka 2. He ensured that no residents, including temporary renters, are left out.
“All residents here must receive health services. Even temporary renters are welcomed by Posyandu Cempaka 2 because it is our duty,” he said.
He mentioned that Posyandu activities are usually held at least once a month. These initiatives aim to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum through community empowerment.
“The government is highly focused on the health of pregnant women and toddlers. That’s why these activities remain a crucial routine,” he explained, listing some of the programs conducted at Posyandu Cempaka 2, including:
– Maternal Health Program: Pregnancy check-ups, nutrition monitoring, and consultations on childbirth preparation and breastfeeding.
– Child Health Program: Routine check-ups for infants and toddlers, weight measurement, height and head circumference tracking, growth evaluation, and counseling on child development.
– Family Planning (KB): Distribution of condoms and birth control pills, as well as contraceptive device placements like IUDs and implants.
– Immunization: Mandatory immunizations such as hepatitis B, polio, BCG, measles, and DPT-HB-HiB.
– Nutrition Status Monitoring: Weight and height measurements, early detection of growth disorders, nutrition counseling, and supplement distribution.
– Diarrhea Prevention and Management: Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) education, as well as provision of oral rehydration salts and zinc supplements when needed.
