Kolkata, May 12. West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari said today that delivering the Ayushman Bharat scheme to every last person in the state is a priority for his government.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he stated that the “double engine government” is committed to ensuring all central welfare schemes reach the people without any hindrance.
The Chief Minister said on ‘X’ that for years, the people of West Bengal were deprived of the central government’s visionary health and welfare schemes. Now, with the double engine government, the task of delivering all central schemes, including Ayushman Bharat, to the last mile will be ensured.
He said that West Bengal has now returned to the path of development. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi also expressed happiness over the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state. The Prime Minister said that the people of West Bengal will now benefit from the world’s largest health scheme, which ensures quality and affordable medical facilities.
He added that the double engine government will also ensure the smooth implementation of central schemes. Recently sworn-in Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari announced the implementation of the ‘Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’ in the state. Under this, the people of the state will be able to avail the benefits of the central government’s major health insurance scheme.
This scheme, operated by the National Health Authority under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, aims to provide cashless hospital treatment of up to five lakh rupees per year to economically weaker and needy families.
The scheme was launched in September 2018.
