Indonesian boxing star from West Java, Maikhel Muskita, is preparing for two major events: Superstar Knockout Vol. 3: King of The Ring and the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
His preparations have been further strengthened after receiving support from a Bandung-based entrepreneur, Hartono Soekwanto, widely known as KOI Boss.
For Maikhel, this assistance is not just financial support but also a moral boost that reignites his fighting spirit in the ring.
“This is my first time meeting Mr. Hartono, but he immediately gave me trust and support. This means a lot, especially during my preparations for these important championships,” said Maikhel.
The boxer, who already holds a gold medal from the 2021 SEA Games and a silver from 2023, is currently focused on preparing for his match against a Thai boxer in Superstar Knockout Vol. 3, scheduled for August 9 in Jakarta. This fight will serve as a crucial test ahead of the 2025 SEA Games.
“The match at JCC will be a test of my physical and technical readiness. Right now, it’s hard to find sparring partners in the 80 kg class, so this fight will really help evaluate my performance,” Maikhel explained.
Meanwhile, Hartono Soekwanto stated that he was motivated to provide support as a way to show care for the struggles of Indonesian athletes.
“I just want to share a little happiness. Athletes like Maikhel have brought pride to the nation, so it’s only right that we help them continue achieving success,” Hartono said during a meeting at his residence in Hegarmanah, Bandung.
He added that his support goes beyond financial assistance, including training equipment and competition necessities.
“I’m just trying to fill in the gaps. It’s not that there’s no support from the government or the National Sports Committee, but perhaps it’s not enough. I’m here as a friend, not a sponsor or a patron,” Hartono emphasized.
Maikhel agreed, feeling that meeting Hartono was a turning point in his journey toward the championships.
“This support gives me extra motivation. I want to prove that Indonesian athletes can achieve even greater success,” he said.
