A specialized workshop organized by the Arab League began on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, on Integrating Counter-Extremism Policies into National Counter-Terrorism Measures, with the participation of experts, specialists, and representatives of member states, as part of joint Arab efforts to enhance security and stability.
The workshop aims to develop effective national mechanisms that integrate counter-extremism policies with adopted counter-terrorism procedures, contributing to raising the efficiency of preventive strategies and enhancing coordination among relevant authorities at the national and regional levels.
Participants emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and experiences among Arab states and adopting best practices in confronting extremist ideology, with a focus on preventive and intellectual aspects alongside security measures, to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable response to this phenomenon.
Ongoing Efforts in Confronting Extremism
This workshop is part of a series of initiatives and programs implemented by the Arab League in the field of counter-terrorism and extremism. Over the past years, it has organized numerous conferences, seminars, and workshops addressing ways to confront violent extremism, enhance intellectual security, and dry up the sources of terrorism.
The League has also contributed to preparing joint Arab strategies, activating security agreements, and enhancing cooperation among member states, in addition to supporting awareness programs and capacity building, thereby strengthening states’ ability to effectively address the risks of terrorism and extremism.
The Arab League continues its pivotal role in coordinating Arab efforts and developing institutional and intellectual frameworks for counter-terrorism, contributing to achieving security and stability in the region.
