The pavilion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, guest of honor at the 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Translation Association and the Malaysian Translators Association. The signing was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Translation Association, Abdul Rahman Al-Sayed, and the President of the Malaysian Translators Association, Dr. Hasuria Che Omar, along with a number of specialists and those interested in the translation, publishing, and cultural industries from both Saudi and Malaysian sides.

The memorandum aims to develop cooperation in the fields of translation and publishing, enhance cultural and knowledge exchange, contribute to supporting scientific and academic efforts of mutual interest, and exchange expertise and specialized consultations to advance the translation sector and strengthen its presence in the international cultural scene.

Both sides affirmed that the memorandum represents an important step towards building sustainable professional and cultural partnerships, contributing to enhancing civilizational dialogue between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, and opening the door for joint projects and initiatives that support the translation movement and expand the presence of literature and knowledge between the two languages.

This memorandum comes within the cultural activity witnessed by the Saudi pavilion at the 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, led by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission through a diverse cultural and knowledge program that highlights the growing status of Saudi culture and its presence in international forums.
