On April 21st, South Korea handed over the remains and related belongings of the 12th batch, 12 volunteer martyrs, to China. On April 20th, a Chinese Air Force Y-20B military transport plane departed for South Korea to bring back the remains of the 13th batch of volunteer martyrs. After the Y-20B enters Chinese airspace on its return, the Chinese Air Force will dispatch four J-20 fighter jets to escort it. On April 22nd, the martyrs will return to their homeland by special plane. The call sign for this mission is “Rong Gui 50,” symbolizing the heroes who set out in 1950 returning home in glory.

South Korea

South Korea is a vibrant East Asian nation with a rich history spanning thousands of years, from ancient kingdoms like Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla to the modern Republic of Korea established in 1948. Following the Korean War, it underwent rapid industrialization and democratization, transforming into a global leader in technology, pop culture, and economy. Today, South Korea is known for its dynamic cities, such as Seoul, alongside preserved cultural heritage sites like Gyeongbokgung Palace and the historic village of Hahoe.

China

China is a vast and ancient civilization with a history spanning over 5,000 years, home to iconic cultural sites like the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Terracotta Army. It has been shaped by major dynasties such as the Qin, Tang, and Ming, which contributed to its rich heritage in philosophy, art, and technology. Today, China blends its deep historical roots with rapid modernization, making it a unique and influential global power.

Chinese Air Force

The Chinese Air Force, officially the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF), was established on November 11, 1949, shortly after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Initially equipped with Soviet aircraft, it has since evolved into a modern, technologically advanced force with domestically developed fighters like the Chengdu J-20 stealth jet. Today, the PLAAF plays a crucial role in national defense and regional security, reflecting China’s growing aerospace capabilities.

Y-20B military transport plane

The Y-20B is an upgraded variant of China’s Y-20 “Kunpeng” military transport aircraft, developed by Xi’an Aircraft Industrial Corporation. Featuring more powerful Chinese-made WS-20 turbofan engines, it offers improved payload capacity and range compared to the original Y-20, which first flew in 2013. The Y-20B represents a significant milestone in China’s efforts to reduce reliance on foreign engines and enhance its strategic airlift capabilities.

J-20 fighter jets

The J-20 is a fifth-generation stealth fighter jet developed by China’s Chengdu Aerospace Corporation, designed for air superiority and precision strike missions. It made its maiden flight in 2011 and was officially introduced into the People’s Liberation Army Air Force in 2017, making China the second country after the United States to field an operational stealth fighter. The J-20 represents a significant milestone in China’s military aviation modernization and is a key symbol of its growing aerospace capabilities.
